Does my reservation entitle me to go ashore?
Reservations generally do not include shore access. Respect host privacy and property. If shore access matters, check listing details and confirm with the host via Inbox before booking. Misuse or unauthorized access may result in suspension or removal from the community.
No, as a general rule, your reservation does not automatically entitle you to go ashore.
Remember that OnBuoy Hosts are private individuals whose moorages are often near or attached to a residential property that may or may not be their primary residence. So it’s important to respect the privacy of your host in addition to respecting their private property.
Here's what you should do if you are looking for a moorage that offers shore access:
- If the listing does not mention shore access, specifically, assume that it is not included.
- Prior to requesting a reservation for a specific moorage, read the listing details to see if shore access is included. If it is, then it’s still a good idea to confirm the details with the host before the stay.
- If the listing is unclear about shore access, reach out to the host directly through OnBuoy to confirm before making the reservation request.
OnBuoy takes violations of this policy very seriously. This includes using the moorage for purposes beyond what the host allows, such as unauthorized shore access.
If a host reports that you've misused the moorage, you and your vessel could be suspended from the OnBuoy community. Depending on the severity, you might also face fines or permanent expulsion.
