How do I know that I'm tying up to the correct buoy?
Confirm by matching GPS coordinates, comparing listing photos and shoreline landmarks, and looking for OnBuoy decals or QR tags on the buoy. If uncertain, message the host via Inbox for confirmation before tying up.
There are a number of ways to confirm that you've found the correct mooring buoy...
- First, check the GPS coordinates of the buoy listed in your reservation confirmation. GPS is good, but it's not perfect so...
- Second, you also want to look at the pictures in the listing to identify any unique markings on the buoy or any shoreline landmarks that you can use to confirm the location of the buoy.
- Third, most OnBuoy moorages will have a yellow and blue decal affixed to the top of the buoy or a tag attached to the top ring (see image below) that indicates that it is part of the OnBuoy community. The tag includes a QR code that you can use to confirm that you are at the right buoy or book it on the spot if you haven't already reserved it.

- Finally, if you still aren't sure that you are at the right buoy, you can always message the host using the messaging tool in the My Bookings menu.
