How to capture location with your phone's camera

Enable your phone camera’s location services so check‑in/out photos contain coordinates. iPhone: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Camera → While Using. Android: Settings → Location → App permissions → Camera → Allow. Geotagged photos verify arrival and support incident documentation while preserving privacy controls.

As part of the check-in and check-out process for a reservation, you'll need to upload photos of the moorage. The photos at the beginning of your reservation confirm that you have arrived and the photos at the end of the reservation confirm that there was no damage to the moorage during your stay. To provide an accurate record of the stay, you'll want to be sure that your phone's camera is set to collect location information for the photos you take. Below are instructions for how to set your phone's camera to capture location information.

Instructions for iPhones:

If you want your iPhone photos to include precise location information, you'll need to make sure that the location services setting is turned on and that the "Location Services" option is enabled for the Camera app. Here's how to do it:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Scroll down and tap on "Privacy."
  3. Tap on "Location Services."
  4. Make sure that the toggle next to "Location Services" is turned on.
  5. Scroll down and tap on "Camera."
  6. Tap on "While Using the App" to allow the Camera app to access your location only when it is open. You can also choose the "Always" option to allow the Camera app to access your location all the time.
  7. Exit the Settings app and open the Camera app.
  8. Take a photo as you normally would. The photo should now contain precise location information, as indicated by the "Location" icon in the top left corner of the screen.

Note that turning on location services will also allow other apps to access your location. If you're concerned about privacy, you can choose the "While Using the App" option for each app individually, or turn off location services altogether. However, keep in mind that this will prevent any app from being able to access your location.

Instructions for Android phones:
