What if I give a boater permission to stay one night but they stay longer or they tie up again without permission?
Communicate calmly first. If unresolved, report via Inbox with photos and details. OnBuoy investigates; intentional unauthorized use can lead to immediate suspension and possible fines or removal.
At OnBuoy, we value a community built on respect for others and responsible behavior. While occasional misunderstandings might occur, unauthorized moorage use is a serious issue that we take strict action against.
First, attempt to communicate directly with the boater. Explain the situation calmly and request them to vacate the moorage as soon as possible.
If direct communication fails, utilize the OnBuoy Inbox feature to report unauthorized moorage use. Provide clear details about the situation, including any relevant information about your previous agreement with the boater, and attach a photo documenting the unauthorized stay.
OnBuoy takes all reports of unauthorized moorage use seriously. Our team will investigate the situation based on the information provided by you and any other available evidence.
If a boater is found to be intentionally occupying a moorage without permission (squatting) and for no good reason (e.g. trouble with the vessel, inclement weather, etc.), OnBuoy will take the following actions:
- Immediate Suspension: Both the vessel and the owner will be suspended from the OnBuoy community immediately.
- Potential Fines: Following an investigation, the unauthorized guest may be fined for their actions.
